YAB & MAB
What is YAB?
We are the Youth Action Board, a group of high school students from Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills public and private schools. We volunteer our time and talents to plan activities and provide opportunities in the community for our peers that are fun, safe, promote a healthy life-style and support teens in their mental health and well-being.
Our goal is to provide teens with a positive voice and presence and to present youth with numerous ways to become more involved in the community, such as:
- Team Building
- Ropes Challenge Day
- Leadership Training
- Community and School Meetings and Discussions
- Social Marketing Campaign Development
- …and MUCH MORE!

Mid Action Board (MAB): A Place Just for 8th Graders
Welcome to the Mid Action Board (MAB)—an exclusive space designed for 8th graders from Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills Schools! MAB is all about helping you build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills, while making lasting connections with your peers.
What is MAB? MAB is a supportive, inclusive group that meets regularly with older teen mentors from YAB (Youth Advisory Board). Together, you’ll explore and tackle important issues like mental health, peer pressure, and healthy habits. You’ll get to talk about the things that matter to you, whether it’s coping with stress, avoiding risky behaviors like vaping or alcohol, or just staying connected in positive ways.
Why Join MAB?
- Build Connections: Form strong bonds with other 8th graders and older teens who want to make a difference, just like you.
- Boost Confidence: Learn how to navigate tough situations, stand up to peer pressure, and make healthy decisions.
- Get Ready for High School: Develop your leadership skills and voice as you prepare for the exciting transition to high school.
Through fun activities, discussions, and guided experiences, MAB will help you focus on your wellness, reflect on who you are, and learn how to support yourself and your friends. Best of all, you’ll have fun while growing into a confident, capable leader.
